Case Study

As Laser engraving is a non-contact process, it can be used to mark parts that would be damaged by impact and vibratory marking methods. It also means they can access hard-to-reach places such as blind pockets, grooves and the bottom of bottles.

Since the Laser can accurately engrave characters as small as 0.015″, it can be used where there is no room for other marking methods. Laser marking can be used on materials where a lack of part distortion is critical such as ball bearing surfaces. In these cases, the mark can be as little as 0.0001″ deep.

The electronics industry requires high volume permanent Laser marks on its components without physical or thermal stresses. The wavelength of the Laser can be tailored to the device material to produce high absorption and little heat during the marking process. The processing speed of Laser marking is also much faster than conventional marking methods.
