Der Ablauf des Laserbohrens ist stark von der Stärke des Werkstoffs, der Bohrungsgröße und der Anzahl der zu bohrenden Löcher abhängig.
Mit Lasern können besonders kleine Löcher, Sacklöcher sowie Löcher mit ungewöhnlicher Form oder präziser Konusform gebohrt werden. Laser können Löcher in besonders steilen Winkeln und in schwer zu bearbeitende Werkstoffe bohren. Mit nur einer Einrichtung lassen sich Löcher in hunderten verschiedenen Größen in einer dreidimensionalen Oberfläche bohren.
