Drilling into Super Alloy Aerospace Components
Today’s jet engines operate at very high temperatures, consequently they require many thousands of cooling channels to be drilled in the turbine components to ensure safe operation.
Our high peak power Fiber Lasers can be used to efficiently and quickly ablate directly onto Aerospace super alloy engine components to create a fan shaped entry profile for cooling holes, which is then drilled through using Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM).
