SPI Lasers to make fiber laser engine components available for system integration
SPI Lasers supports new entrants in the macro laser market with two new OEM products
SPI Lasers chose LASER 2007 to announce two new OEM laser modules for integration into KW and multi-KW power level cutting and welding solutions. SPI Lasers’ 400W Stackable Laser Module and 400W Laser Resonator offer all the reliability and controllability of SPI’s fiber laser technology to machine integrators. The modules include SPI’s patented GTWave™ fiber technology.
The move by SPI Lasers is made in response to demand from leading machine builders in this sector looking to offer their customers the full benefits of fiber laser-based systems. Typically processes such as welding and cutting can be carried out faster and with better results, while delivering energy and space savings.
CEO David Parker explains: “SPI Lasers has built a reputation for our applications expertise and the high performance and reliability of our products in the micro-machining market. We could use our design competence, technology and IP to scale up towards higher powers in the macro market, but we prefer to build strategic partnerships for OEM supply in this market, working alongside our customers to help them deliver best-in-class solutions.”
The new products are a 400W Laser Resonator available on its own to integrators with the capability to develop pumping and control systems, and a 400W Stackable Laser Module that includes the Laser Resonator and comes complete with a pumping system. Both components are designed without control circuitry or power supply, allowing integrators to customize their offering to specific market needs. Both allow integrators to benefit from SPI’s leading patented technology and significant capital investment in fiber expertise while leveraging their own skills and reducing time to market.
