The Applications Lab

SPI Applications Lab

SPI's Applications Lab is run by Dr Tony Hoult, a professional Materials Engineer and veteran of the laser industry. He has over 30 years of experience in both the laser industry and academia as a Laser Materials Processing specialist.

“As manager of the SPI Lasers applications laboratory in Santa Clara California I am very excited to host this section of the web aimed at informing and creating dialogue among process and application owners across industry on the subject of fiber lasers.

SPI's laboratory in California is equipped with pulsed and CW fiber lasers and scanning, X-Y table, rotary and glove box welding work stations. Nearby we have a first class metrology facility”.

The facility is used to create proof of principle samples and application notes for potential users of SPI’s Lasers. This work is carried out free of charge. Once samples have been sent to the industrial user a decision is typically taken to take advantage of SPI’s “Try Before You Buy” program whereby a suitable laser is sent free of charge to the user for a FREE 30 day trial.

Should more detailed process development work be required then SPI can suggest an introduction to the SPI Lasers Academic Partners. These are Universities and Laser Institutes who have purchased an SPI Fiber Lasers and are willing to undertake paid process development activity on behalf on industry.

To gain maximum benefit from this web site we suggest you register as a repeat user. This will allow you to access and download datasheets, application notes and technical notes on a wide variety of applications and laser process. Register Now.
