Dr O’Neill is the Head of the Centre of Industrial Photonics which is part of the Cambridge University Institute for Manufacturing.
He has written extensively on the subject of laser-matter interactions, optical engineering and rapid manufacturing process technologies.
Dr O’Neill is a member of a number of government and industrial advisory boards, a member of EPSRC Peer Review College, and is a non-executive director of Advanced Laser Solutions Ltd.
More recently Dr O’Neill was elected as a Director of the Laser Institute of America (LIA) to help steer and develop worldwide operations in this field.
